"Smooth sounds, melodic, on-time, able to play a full catalog. This arrangement of musicians is graceful and stylistic. Legacy holds themselves to a high standard and their audience can hear it.

."It is not just the great food or the location that makes this restaurant shine. Boca offers music every Monday night. Ian Petillo and his Jazz Trio fill the restaurant with a variety of tunes. There is jazz, Sinatra, and more! This talented trio takes requests and nothing is beyond their reach!"

"Thank you so much for the wonderful concert you all gave us last Friday evening.  We thought that everything went perfectly and we know that the audience (including us) truly enjoyed hearing your superb renditions of so many favorite songs from the era that many in our audience remember with particular fondness.  I know that Genevieve joins me in letting you know that it was a pleasure to work with you in the months leading up to Friday's event. With so many programs to coordinate and oversee, it is especially appreciated when performers and managers are as easy to communicate with and cooperative about providing us with material as you were.  We look forward to working with you in the future."

"On behalf of the music advisory Committee, I would like to thank you and the members of the Legacy Jazz quintet for providing a wonderful musical afternoon at the Great Neck Library on Sunday, May 23, filled the with classic sounds of Jazz and Swing.
The audience loved the performance and was happy to be taken back to the good old days of fabulous music composed by then likes of Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, and the Gershwins. I am pleased that there was such a positive response to the program."

In an age where many cultural mediums are being redone, reimagined or rereleased, it can be difficult to find a music artist who respects the tradition of his genre while still providing a fresh and innovative take that can get people listening.

“Azure,” the jazz album by Ian Petillo and his Legacy Stompers, weaves aspects of several musical styles together but manages to meld them perfectly with the jazz flare that holds the album together. “One Way Ticket,” the album’s leading track, transports listeners to New Orleans, while Petillo’s smooth vocals blend with a melody that feels modern and yet has a twist of classic jazz tunes. The following track, “Paris Cafe,” has a fitting name, as it’s transcontinental feel sets a mood that speaks to the soft romance of a night in Paris. This song’s melody sounds almost as if the notes are dancing and is a great lead-in to the next song on the album; “Roni-Sue,”  a fun, light song that brings to mind the musical treats of the Caribbean islands, without managing to seem out of place on this collection of jazz pieces. “My Way Back to You,” is another classic, romantic song set at a slower pace that draws listeners in. The style shifts towards the second half of “Azure,” with the track, “Boogie Man,” which has more of a rock-feel that the previous songs and gives off edgier vibes. The penultimate “Mississippi Moon,” brings back the traditional sounds standard to jazz fare before the album closes with “Won’t Leave a Sign.” At points it appears that this track will delve deeper into rock themes before rewinding back into the smoothness apparent throughout the rest of the album. Though “Azure” is only a compiling of six songs, each one represents a different element that somehow comes together to create a unique and enjoyable listening experience. Ian Petillo and his Legacy Stompers have most certainly managed to make a creation of unique versatility that I believe lovers of all music genres will be able to take something from.
